Transforming our Community

Are you looking forward to the Olympics? I have to confess that watching the Olympic trials at my folks’ house a couple of weeks ago got me in the mood! The only problem is that there will be upwards of 3500 hours of coverage in the next three weeks! One of my favorite parts is when the winners are on the victor’s stand and the chairperson puts the medal around their neck. Do you know what I mean? Years of faithfulness are finally rewarded and the world hears the chairperson say to the victor "Well done."

I’d like to think that the Apostle Paul was a fan of the Olympics. Many think he himself attended the Isthmisian Games in Corinth! So I don’t think it is any accident that he chose to use imagery from athletic contests in describing what it will be like on that day when we stand before the Lord.  He describes it in the book of Romans like this:

"For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat....then, each of us will give an account of himself to God." -Romans 14:10,12

Are you ready to stand before Jesus and give an account of your life to Him? Don’t despair...over the next few weeks we’ll explore together what exactly will happen on that day...the day... and how you can prepare right now for eternity with Him. Meanwhile let me just prompt you by asking "Are you living for today, or are you living for THE day?
