Transforming our Community

It’s hard to believe, but the summer is drawing to an end, and the fall looms. It’s not the end of the calendar year, but in many ways it’s the beginning of new year in many of our lives. I’m not sure about your family, but for roughly the last twenty years mine has operated according to the school calendar rather than the Gregorian one! And I’ve grown accustomed to it, even long for the time when the fever heat of summer breaks and each of us are given a new opportunity to experience the presence and power of God in our lives.

It’s a time for reorienting ourselves, for evaluating the myriad activities that vie for our limited time and for making room in our calendars for the things that are important–the big rocks, as we’ll see.

But are you like me? Do you find that in spite of your best intentions, the more important things in life–my time with God, my relational time with my family and friends–these most precious of gifts get squeezed out by the more urgent but less important tasks?

This fall I want to invite you to “Make Room for Life.”  I want to encourage you to think deeply about not only how you want to live your life, but also how you actually are living it. I want to look to God’s Word with you for insight into how we might respond to the “still small voice” of His Spirit and begin to experience life as He intended.

This fall may not be the beginning of a new calendar year for you, but it can be the beginning of a new season in your life–a season of grace and healing and incredible fruitfulness that will bless not only you, but generations to come!

A blessed fall season to you!
